A good friend of mine – Uyen Huynh (she is with Quinn’s World on 2nd downtown Saskatoon!) and I again worked on another project for the Canadian Hairdresser Mirror Award Competition – and we won Saskatchewan for the 2nd time!!!! I love this type of work – anyone else out there interested in working together for this type of work – LET ME KNOW!!!
A extremely talented Uyen Huyn who works at Angles (261-0795) and I created these collections for Contessa (we WON!), Mirror Awards (we WON our category as well) and NAHA this year….. keep in mind this is all hair!!!! Love doing this kind of work! If anyone else out there is looking for work with their collections – let me know asap – spots are filling up quickly!

Well… it has been a ride! I have been blessed to be capturing moments in so many peoples lives over the past 10 years and have finally achieved a goal I didn’t really know I could ever achieve! I was a finalist in 2009 for Top Portrait Photographer in Canada …. but this was my year!!! I was just named Professional Portrait Photographer of Canada 2011 by the PPOC (Professional Photographers of Canada) a week ago at our National Convention in beautiful Banff!!! I am still a little in shock!
Each year – every member of the PPOC is invited to submit 4 prints only to represent their body of work for the year…. these images can fall into any one of the 20+ categories… ie… wedding, commercial… fashion etc….. each image is then judged by a panel of the Top Professional Photographers in Canada who are national judges and given a score between non-accepted to Excellence…… out of all those thousands and thousands of entries…. those photographers who were able to have all 4 of their prints accepted and score the highest in the country are then named as the finalists for Canada. I was one of the only 5 accepted as finalist… and the only woman….. The other photographers I was in the running with have been a huge inspiration to me over the past 10 years…. and honestly…. they are so amazing I have been scared to even say hi to them because I just was in awe of their outstanding work. Once I got to know them – you know what – they are totally amazing, wonderful, generous people – love you all!!!!
I won. OMG…. yes… almost passed out when they called my name….. really! This night I also found out I won Top Fashion Image in Canada, Judges Choice, a image in Loan Collection, finalist in the new Masters Competition (top 5 in that one too!!!) and received my Masters of Photographic Arts! Wow – what a night! I feel blessed to do what I do and share it with so many… thank you to my wonderful supportive family…. my amazing husband for putting up with my crazies…. and to you my clients… for allowing me into your world…… here is to the next 10 years!

Was just notified that I am now 1 of 6 finalists for PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR IN CANADA and the only female!!!!!! This will be the 2nd time in 3 years I am a finalist! I am very blessed that my images did so well in competition – it is extremely hard to achieve this…. but I recommend to all – check out the Professional Photographers of Canada – they are a amazing organization and I am blessed to be a part of them!!! Congratulations to all the other finalists – I look forward to seeing all of your amazing images at Nationals!
Each year as a member of the PPOC (Professional Photographers of Canada) each member in good standing is permitted to enter 4 images in a variety of categories (I think there is over 20) their top images in whichever 4 categories they have chosen to represent their body of work for the year. So you can imagine – there are a ton of entries each year that the team of National Judges has go through (thank you Nelson and all the judges this year – it is a long number of days that you guys work each year – thank you for all your hard work!). I was blessed to have all 4/4 of my prints accepted into the print salon this year again!!!! 4/4 prints hanging in our National Print Salon has taken me almost 8 years to achieve and since 2009 have achieved 4/4 each year! The images are scored in one of 4 ratings…. not accepted….. accepted… merit…. excellence (being the best)…. I was awarded 2 merit, 1 excellence and 1 accepted!!!! Also this year – if you are a Master Photographer – you have the opportunity to enter 1 image in any category for a chance at the first ever – Master’s Trophy!!!! My image “The Messenger” received a Merit in this category as well – so 5/5 images in National Print salon!!!! I am so excited – thank you to my family/friends for putting up with my crazies over the past month in preparing for this competition…. April 16-20 is our National Convention in Banff – this is where we will find out who receives the best in each of the categories and overall Portrait/Commercial/Artist of the year!!! Wish me luck!!! Hey all… well.. this is a little of what I have been up to…. I was recently awarded Top Wedding Image in Saskatchewan (for the 3rd year in a row) as well as TOP WEDDING IMAGE IN CANADA by the Professional Photographers of Canada… as well as Top Wedding Album 2-Maker In Canada (this is the first year this award has been given!). I also was given Judges Choice Award and had all other entries accepted into the National Print Show! I am very excited! Photographers from all over Canada that are members of the PPOC are eligible to enter up to 4 prints each year and all entries are judged by a panel of Master Photographers from across Canada. Last year I was a finalist as 1 of 5 Top Portrait Photographers in Canada by the PPOC!
My partner for the wedding in Hawaii that won Top Wedding Album was Tracey Harper – award winning photographer extrodinaire from Victoria! She is asked to judge and teach all over the world…. she is a wonderful friend and amazing photographer… thank you again for hanging with me buddy!

This past weekend I had the honor of being awarded Top Wedding Image and Top Photojournalistic Image in Saskatchewan in 2009!!!!! There were so many amazing entries by wonderful photographers from the Professional Photographers of Canada (PPOC) Saskatchewan – I feel blessed to have come away with these – thank you to my wonderful clients for agreeing to my crazy ideas when shooting – agreeing to be “Shelved” was one I didn’t think they would do – but look at the results!!!!! Love you guys!!!
Here is Top Wedding Image in Saskatchewan 2009! It was important in full sun shooting to make sure you have all the details in the “whites” so you can see the detail in every fold and beading and at the same time make sure you see all the detailing in the blacks so they are not “blocked-up”! This is called “SHELVED”
