Well… it started a couple of years ago… 2009 actually… a good friend of mine – Uyen Huynh and I wanted to do something for women… women that have been through things… women who have been through things that changed them and some are still broken… who are still going through battles of various kinds… some have come through them and have become stronger…. some are still working their way through them…. a role model for never giving up in yourself… believing in yourself… Heather is such a lady…. she survived bullying as a teen… here are her words:

“Being bullied as a teen shaped me into the person I am today. I never wanted to treat anyone the way that I was treated. I stayed strong and told myself things would get better. The important thing is to stay resilient and NEVER be afraid to TALK to someone about the problem…”

The Angel program… Uyen and I decided we wanted to show these ladies that they are beautiful…. whatever stage they are at… whatever they have gone through… that someone cares…. and wants to help…  who hears them…. we want to celebrate their strengh.  Over the years we have helped many ladies… including a very young beautiful young lady who has come through the other side of cancer…  we want to try to find a support system for them if they don’t have one… we want to give them a fresh look…. maybe help get them on their feet with some new clothing for work so they can go to work with pride… Uyen (Provincial and National Award Winning Stylist) gives the ladies a new look… hair… makeup….  and I take them out and capture them… the way I see them… the way God created them… the way they should see themselves… as beautiful as they really are….

Uyen and I are here to celebrate women… like we have for the past few years… women who have made a difference in peoples lives…. who have changed lives… who have been and continue to be role models in our community… do you know such a lady???  We would love to meet her and celebrate her for who she is… where she is at…. please contact myself at ginasportraits@shaw.ca if you want to nominate someone (this is our gift to them – there is no cost associated with this) and let us know why they should be celebrated… our children and teens… young women need amazing role models right here in our city… please… let us celebrate them!  These are real people… making a difference… not models…  they don’t have to be featured… would love it if they were… but it can just be about making them feel special and loved… it can be totally private too!
