Each year we as members of the Professional Photographers of Canada (PPOC) we are eligible to enter our choice of 4 images into print competition along with our peers… and is judged by 6 judges that are national accredited judges by the PPOC. I am excited to announce that I am one of 5 finalists in CANADA for the title of Canadian Portrait Photographer of the Year… this is my second time as a finalist and won this fantastic title in 2011… It is a huge honour to be a finalist again! My competition (from across Canada) are truly artists… I can’t wait to see all of their work! We will have to wait until the end of April to see who takes the title this year – I so can’t wait!
In competition – images can score either – Not Accepted into print salon…. Accepted into print salon…. Merit in print salon (only 144 awarded in Canada this year) and Excellence – (only 25 awarded this year)… I was honoured with 3 Merits (wedding group, portrait and wedding photojournalistic) and 1 Accepted (wedding portrait)…. So all those who successfully “‘hung” 4/4 in the main categories are then eligible for being a finalist in their class if their aggregate score was high enough… I was 1 of the 5 who achieved this this year! Then, we as MASTER PHOTOGRAPHERS are then eligible to enter 1 image in any category we choose – I choose this year Freestyle…. and I achieved a EXCELLENCE in the Masters Category… I am blessed!
It takes a huge panel of people volunteering and working behind the scenes each year to pull this off – I just want to say thank you to them and the PPOC to help push me each year… ultimately… the only person I am truly competing with is myself… to be better than I was yesterday… thank you for stopping by!
